DR. FARA DAYANA BINTI MOHD JUFRY

Senior Lecturer

Dr. Fara Dayana Mohd Jufry is a Senior Lecturer at the Drama and Theatre Department, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), with a multidisciplinary background in both graphic communication and traditional performing arts. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Communication and a Master of Arts in Drama and Theatre from USM, and earned her PhD in Drama and Theatre from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris.

Her areas of expertise lie in the intersection of visual design and traditional performance, particularly Wayang Kulit Kelantan and Mak Yong. As both a researcher and practitioner, Dr. Fara Dayana actively performs in these heritage art forms, contributing to their preservation and sustainability.

She is the author of two significant publications: Wayang Kulit Kelantan: Evolusi Reka Bentuk Gambalan Seri Rama, Rawana dan Siti Dewi and Dewa Pechil: A Mak Yong Tale Told by Ali bin Ibrahim, both of which reflect her commitment to documenting and reviving Malaysia’s intangible cultural heritage.

Her current research focuses on the digitalization of cultural heritage, with particular interest in the application of new media and emerging technologies in traditional performance. Dr. Fara Dayana's broader research interests include the sustainability of traditional performing arts, the integration of digital platforms in heritage dissemination, and innovative pedagogies in theatre education.
