Sustainability @ ARTS USM

School of The Arts USM stands at the forefront of promoting sustainability, aligning its initiatives with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the USM-APEX blueprint, "Transforming Higher Education for a Sustainable Tomorrow." This comprehensive blueprint calls for a systemic institutional adoption of the principles and practices of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), an approach rooted in the ideals and principles that underpin sustainability as articulated by The World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (2009). ESD emphasizes teaching and learning that foster environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic responsibility. In its quest to become a world-class institution in sustainability, USM has established a dedicated center to spearhead the integration of sustainability across all levels of the university community. School of The Arts, as an integral part of USM, embodies this commitment through its innovative educational programs, cutting-edge research, and proactive community engagement. By embedding sustainability into its core operations and academic framework, the School of The Arts not only prepares students to excel in their artistic pursuits but also equips them with the knowledge and skills to lead in creating a sustainable future. Through these efforts, School of The Arts USM exemplifies how higher education can drive transformative change, supporting both local and global sustainability goals in alignment with the UN’s vision.
